Amy Bysouth

I am a Melbourne based freelance Makeup Artist. Being a freelance makeup artist is such a gratifying job. Working on photo shoots, beautifying brides and glamming girls doesn’t feel like work for me! I love seeing a creative idea come to life in an editorial spread just as much as the smile on someone’s face when they look in the mirror.

Before any makeover, I always make sure to start with a solid skincare routine. Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre is the perfect moisturizer and primer in one. For clients wanting the ‘all day matte’ look I love using MAC Cosmetics’ Oil Control Lotion.

My essential eye cream pick is the Origins GinZing eye cream, it reflects light and de-puffs! I achieve a flawless base using Makeup Forever HD foundation, MAC Pro Correct & Conceal Palette and Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer for the under eye area. To set the base and give a healthy glow I use Yves Saint Laurent Soufflé D’Eclat setting powder and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush on the cheeks. To contour and slim the face I cannot go without my Nars ITA Brush and the Smashbox Contour Kit!

For almost all of my eye looks I will use a MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot, ‘Soft Ochre’ being my go-to. After I have applied a base I use the Lorac Pro Eyeshadow Palette to create many different eye looks. For seamless and precise eyeshadow blending I always reach for my Zoeva 231 and 228 brushes.

To achieve the perfect winged liner I can’t go past Bobbi Brown’s gel liner in Black Ink with a MAC 210 brush, this is my holy grail liner brush! It makes it so easy to get a crisp wing! No eye look is complete without perfect brows; Makeup Forever’s Aqua Brow makes it super easy for me to design any style of brow, plus it doesn’t smudge! And to finish off a look, MAC’s Viva Glam lipsticks are an easy choice as these shades suit a variety of skin tones and looks!
